Come March 8th, and the world is abuzz with the celebration of a very ‘Happy International Women’s Day’! It is a special day that we set aside specifically for all the women of the world. It is a time to commemorate their various economic, social, political and cultural achievements. And why not?
In its true essence, the day is a celebration of the feminine power of nature that nurtures life. The woman is the creator. She inspires all and beautifully breathes life into the non-living; thus, transforming even a house of mere concrete and stone into a lively home, which bubbles with life and energy!
Speak of working women, and they are juggling multiple roles at the same time. Be it the home front or the work arena, they are proving their prowess in all the different domains – political, research, education, science, medicine, cultural – name the field and they are there! Big multinationals, corporates, top government portfolios and offices are being headed by ladies. Their able leadership skills and innovative thought processes are shaping a new future for their countries. Armed with a liberal mind, free nature and progressive thought process, they are instrumental in the growth of their nations.
‘Charity begins at home’ – goes the adage. So, we shall begin with the ladies in our very household!
Looking back, do you remember thanking your mother for all the times she made your favorite dish even when she couldn’t stand? Do you thank your wife for cleaning up the room, doing the laundry or dropping the kids to school even when she is running high fever? Well, if you haven’t, this March 8th is the best time to thank them, express yourself and let them know how beautiful they are. Make them feel special. They deserve it!
It is to be noted that homemaking is definitely no less than any profession. Rather it involves more of commitment and sacrifice because it forms the very framework for the family’s well-being and happiness. In being a homemaker, we often do not realize or get to see the difficulties that our ladies go through.
Moreover, it is not uncommon for our homemakers to put their own plans in the backburner and prioritize the family’s needs instead. In the process, many a times, their health suffers – physically, mentally and emotionally. Let’s face it; we don’t get to know about it because they don’t breathe a word.
After all, we want to see our ladies happy. Don't we? This Women’s Day, let us put their health first! The key to happiness is a healthy life. Without proper health, one cannot enjoy the happiness in different occasions of life. So, take care of their health. Gift them something as simple as a flower. It will make them happy. That’s how you get to show them that you care. A gift need not be expensive. Rather it is the thought and effort behind getting the gift and presenting it to them that truly matters. It’s a small effort but makes a huge difference.
So, go on and spread the word – wish all the women you know a very Happy International Women’s Day - and of course to your homemaker, mother, daughters and sisters who make this world a better place and add meaning to our lives!
